The NZ Short Course Championships were held in Wellington on the 2-6 September.  A team of 12 swimmers from NCSC attended this meet.  Brigitte Mahan, head coach, said that it was a very positive meet with a lot of club records broken.  She said this shows how the swimmers are progressing and moving forward.  Brigitte said "It was brilliant for the swimmers to get the opportunity to see Lauren Boyle swim her favoured events. There was also a presentation to acknowledge the great job she had done at Commonwealth games which was very fitting.
On the last night we got to witness Nathan Capp break the open 1500 record by 15.64 secs. This time was swum by Danyon Loader in 1992 when he was 16. It was a fantastic swim and had the whole crowd barracking for him."

Some of the great results were:
Campbell Kershaw, 16 year male:  silver 200 freestyle, bronze 100m, 400m and 1500m freestyle
Oliver Rayner, 14 year male: silver 50m butterfly, bronze 100m butterfly

Canterbury Relays:
Bryn Atkin:  Gold 4 x 200m freestyle, silver 4 x 100m freestyle
Angus Syme: silver 4 x 100m freestyle
William Roberts: bronze 4 x 100m medley
Oliver Rayner: bronze 4 x 100m medley

Campbell Kershaw and Oliver Rayner have both been invited to join the NZ age group camp to be held in Timaru following the South Island Short Course Meet (27-29th Sept).  They will join Angus Syme who had qualified at NAGS (National Age Groups) for this camp.
